St Martin Lodge Accomodation

The Lodge is owned and managed by the QIKT Community. Our aim is to provide basic lodge accommodation for group and family hire and be a centre for hui, retreats, conferences, camps and other gatherings in accordance with our values and vision.

About St Martin Lodge

  • St Martin Lodge accommodates up to 30 people.

  • You can book sole use of the lodge, otherwise it is shared bunk rooms.

  • We aim to keep the Island accessible to everyone. If cost is a genuine barrier to staying, please get in touch.

  • Check-in is from 1:00pm.

  • Check-out is by 12:00 noon. You are welcome to continue enjoying the Island outside this time.

  • If your group requires use of the Lodge beyond 12 noon, Lodge Day Hire rates will apply.

  • Smoking including vaping is only allowed on the far end of the jetty.

  • No fires or BBQ’s permitted.

  • No dogs permitted.

  • At the end of your stay please leave the accommodation cleaner and tidier than you found it.

  • Cancellation Policy - Please advise us at least 7 days prior if you wish to cancel your booking.

Facilities

Kitchen/dining room

  • x2 stoves, microwave, cooking utensils, jugs, toasters, pots, pans, plates, bowls, mugs/cups, glasses and cutlery, x2 fridge/freezers.

  • Dining room with tables/chairs and a heat pump.

  • Our tank water is UV treated and safe to drink.

  • Please conserve water as much as possible.

  • In very dry weather, you may be asked to bring your own drinking water.

  • We compost food waste. Please put any food waste in the white bucket labelled “compost” in the Lodge Kitchen.

  • Please take all your recycling and rubbish off the island when you leave.

Lounge

  • Heat pump, sofa’s, armchairs, games, bookcase, coffee table.

Bathroom

  • x2 hand basins; x1 shower for occasional use.

  • Please conserve water as much as possible. If using the shower, please keep it short (2 minutes).

  • Toilets x2 composting toilets (shared with day visitors). They can only cope with pee, poo and toilet paper. There is a separate rubbish bin for sanitary products. Always close the toilet lid after use so warm air can circulate and help with the composting process. This prevents them from getting smelly too. Useful bacteria break down the waste and it’s critical that no harsh chemical products are used to clean the toilets. These will kill the beneficial bugs. The Keeper will clean the toilet, using appropriate cleaning products.

Bedrooms

  • x2 large bunk rooms sleeping 14 and 11

  • x1 single room; x1 room with two single beds (Captain’s cabin)

  • x1 room with double bed

  • If the Lodge isn’t quite big enough for your group there is a small, flat area for camping near the buildings. No camping elsewhere on the Island. Please note: the maximum number is 30 in the Lodge, including one or two tents.

What we supply

  • Toilet paper; paper hand towels, hand wash liquid, dish washing liquid, tea towels, and cleaning products, brooms, vacuum, dustpan/brush, mop etc.

What to bring

  • Sleeping bag, or a sheet to cover your DoC style mattress and blanket

  • Pillow

  • Tea towels

  • Towel

  • Rubbish bags

  • Food

  • Slippers or thick socks or a hot water bottle will help keep you warm inside the Lodge

  • Gumboots or walking boots.

  • Waterproof backpack or bag so it doesn’t get wet and dirty on the boat, or on our jetty when you arrive.
